Events of Interest

Time To Fly

What’s more interesting than one’s son? An obvious event of interest for us in Lodja this summer has been the the visit of the workcrew from the US who began the roof construction phase of our future eye hospital. But you can find a lot of text and photos about that in the Hospital Construction News page, so here we’ll let you know instead what’s going on with Peter these days. A lot of the photos of him in this website would seem to indicate that he’s cute 5th grader, but in fact he’s turned into something of a young fellow in the last year or so, and recently came to a significant turning point in his life. Just before the workcrew arrived in Lodja, we took him to Kijabe, Kenya, where he began his new career as a boarding student at Rift Valley Academy. He’s a freshman in high school, with courses ranging from basic 9th grade P.E. (he informs us that chin-ups are easier than pull-ups – or is the other way around?) to French III, which we fondly hope will teach him to properly conjugate all those verbs that flow off his tongue so easily. He’s also learning how to prioritize his time, live within community guidelines, listen to God in a new way, and play music in three sharps. We pray for him daily, write him often, and occasionally talk with him, and are expecting God to use this time in his life for Peter’s good and God’s glory.
